Kurilpa Feature Poet SEAN WEST, Sunday 24th Sept

Kurilpa Poets present;

Sept 24th Feature Poet

This month the Kurilpa Poets are proud to present as our September Feature Poet, one of Brisbanes most promising young poetic talents, Sean West, mild-mannered QUT creative writing student by day, dynamic Poetic Super-Hero by night.

An avid slam poet and former QPF intern, his work has appeared in such places as IBIS, The Tundish Review, QUT Inklings Zine, Veronica Literary Magazine, Freezeray Poetry, Pastel Magazine and These Frozen Moments and also appeared in a Good Room Collective installation.

Deceptively fresh-faced Sean turns out a kind of Cartoon Modernism, studded with ageless lines of “salt encrusted wisdom” that Poets thrice his age would struggle to craft. His verse recently impressed the crowd when he appeared at the 2017 QLD Poetry Festival’s Literary Saloon.

You can view his contribution to the Salon on

You Tube at;

This will be Sean’s first Feature Performance so make sure you turn up this Sunday, 24th September, at 2pm

at 91 Cordelia Street, Sth Brisbane, so you too can say, “I was there!”.

  1. Hi
    I would really love to come along, but I cannot find anyone to contact to find out more details. I would need to get public transport or a lift to the venue as I live at Chapel Hill. I love poetry and am studying Poetry and Poetics at University. Anyone out there who can help?
    Best wishes

  2. Hi Barb, if you can get into town, just take bus route 190, 196 or 199 along Melbourne St to Bus-stop 3, then it’s just a short walk up Cordelia (as per the map on the right hand side of this page) We can be contacted via our Facebook page or write to kurilpapoets@yahoo.com.au. You should be able to find most of the info you need by looking around the gazette. Hope to see you on Sunday.
    cheers, Rev. H
